What if you can't upgrade High Sierra due to Nvidida issues? stuck for ever? Reason why mojave != Nvidia?

I'm new to hackintosh and I'm currently collecting information for my Lenovo P50.

Here I found out that with High Sierra I can use my NVidia M2000M when I fake a M4000 and that I won't be able to use this card on Mojave: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/bhyd4g/nvidia_m2000m_high_sierra/

Several postings reveal that High Sierra probably will be supported via Patches etc untl fall 2020 (~ 2 yrs after mojave launch)

But what's next in 2021 for High Sierra users if they can't upgrade? Are they stuck on High Sierra forever?

Maybe someone can explain a bit further why e.g. my Nvidia M2000M isn't supported for Mojave?

- Mojave supports Metal 2

- Metal 2 should support all NVIidia Kepler GPUs

- I thought my M2000M is a Kepler GPU, am I wrong?

- why is it not possible to fake a M4000 for a M2000M anymore?

What are all the Mac owners doing who bought a regular mac with a M4000 GPU? Are they stuck too with the only option to sign this petition? https://www.change.org/p/tim-cook-apple-publicly-commit-to-work-with-nvidia-on-drivers-for-mac-os-10-14
