Should I upgrade to Ivy Bridge for Mojave?

I’m currently still rocking a 2500k since I bought it new forever ago, and the thing is still plenty powerful enough for my needs all this time later. I used my system as a hackintosh for a while but the most recent release I had installed was 10.7 before converting back to windows for several years.

I’m thinking of going back to MacOS now, and have read that the oldest intel generation supported by Mojave is ivy bridge, but there may be workarounds for some sandy bridge systems. If I want to install Mojave, will it save me a headache if I spend $50-60 and get a used 3750k, or would things work well enough (or comparatively no more difficult) just trudging forward with what I’ve got? I’d like to put off a whole new build for at least a couple more years.
