I have been following this subreddit and I'm almost ready to take the plunge and dual boot a hackintosh. However, my situation is that I don't have a MacBook on hand, and it seems like there are 2 amazing guides. Which one should I follow?

It seems like the first one is meant to be a direct substitute of the first one, in the event that one doesn't have an available Apple computer. On the other hand, the second link is for the more conventional method where one has an Apple computer on hand and can just download the desired version of MacOS off the App Store. Am I correct? If that is so, and I follow the first one, do I still have to follow the steps in the second one? It seems to me like the first guide will take me all the way from start to finish.
