DisplayPort adapter?

So I have an LCD cinema display purchased in 2010. The OpenCore Vanilla guide says "DisplayPort can be a hit or miss as WhateverGreen needs to be adapted. ", but what if I use some kind of adapter (does that exist?) to convert the apple displayport into a normal display plug? Basically, I'm wondering if I can make my LCD cinema display work with a hackintosh
