Hey guys,
Hardware:
CPU: i9 9900k
GPU: XFX RX 5700 XT Thicc III Ultra
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 3600
Motherboard model: Asus ROG Strix Z390-E
Screen(s) Number:1
Screen(s) Resolution: 3840x2160
What guide/tool I followed:
- OpenCore Vanilla guide on the sidebar
What part I got an issue with:
-
Recently hacknitosh with OC 0.6.0. I dual booted Windows/Mac OS Catalina. I have an m.2 SSD for each OS, keeping them entirely separate. I installed Mac OS first, then Windows. Both on separate drives
-
When in Windows, I have had times where my screen will randomly turn green and the computer needs to be hard rebooted. This may happen in Mac OS also, but I have mainly been using Windows on this machine (for games) and that is when I have had the issue.
-
Additionally, on a cold boot the machine will also give me a post boot screen but when I go to BIOS and reboot from there, it is fine.
-
When in Windows EFI mode, I can only boot into my Windows partition. When in Other OS, I can boot both Windows and Mac OS from the OpenCore CLI.
-
When the green screen/freeze happens and I reboot, I get a BSOD with an error about EFI or APCI (I forget which one, have been trying to replicate but because it's random I do not have a picture at the moment) After this I just press ESC, go into BIOS, reboot from BIOS, then the computer boots normally. Seems like it could be something similar to what is happening with when I cold boot but haven't been able to pinpoint the issue.
Could it be possible my machine is trying to use the wrong EFI file? I noticed a Microsoft folder in my EFI folder...maybe part of the problem? Pic of folder here
Any help would be greatly appreciated, just trying to make this as stable as possible as I will use it for school/work.
