PC won’t boot with Intel HD Graphics enabled

Hey people. This is a quick question.

I’m trying to enable the integrated intel graphics chip in bios for quicksync and airplay.

Everything works great in OSX with both GPUs enabled, but windows will crash and then boot to a black screen.

Specs:

Core i5 4460

Gigabyte z97X-UD3H-BK

Nvidia GTX 970

High Sierra 10.12.(whatever latest is)

Windows 10 (all builds have this problem)

Notes: I have set the PCI GPU to be the initial display device so that’s not the problem.

Windows will boot with the spiny circle, show the log in screen briefly and then bang black screen. Once I was able to get to the desktop then it completely froze immediately.

As soon as I disable the iGPU in bios the PC boots fine into both windows and OSX

I know this is a windows specific situation but googling doesn’t.

Does anyone else have problems with the iGPU and PCIE GPU enabled at the same time?
