Hackintosh for Video/Photo Editing... but also (wishlist) gaming.

It’s time for me to build a desktop rig for video editing. But I’m a Mac user (the real stuff), and there’s no way I can afford (or justify anyway) an iMac Pro to handle the kind of work I’ll be doing now and into the future (8K footage and beyond).

I could switch to PC, but I just love the Mac OS and ecosystem, and I will be keeping my Macbook Pro, iphone etc, and just want everything to play nicely.

So I’m considering a Hackintosh.

It will either be a beast, with no expense spared that will make an iMac Pro look like a toy, or it will be equivalent to an iMac Pro, for half the price. Haven’t decided yet.

Also… would be sweet if it had the specs I need for running most games on Ultra. :) But video editing first and foremost.

Can someone guide me on how to either build:

  • An iMac Pro Killer
  • An iMac Pro equivalent for a good price

I would run MacOS 99% of the time, but it’s so critical to me that it’s reliable and does not put my data at risk in any way, and is as bug free as possible. And hopefully that I can update the OS, and features just as I would on any other Mac. I wouldn’t ever do it if I was risking anything, because it’s just too critical. And I do NOT want a frustrating user experience. Unless I'm looking at the case, I want to think I'm using a Mac.

Bonus points if I can upgrade it some day just as I would upgrade a PC.

Thanks in advance!
