Installed Sequoia, advice on migration?

I have a 2012 Mac mini. I have been tinkering around with OCLP with pretty good success, in general.

Today, I created the USB drive to install Sequoia. The installation seemed to go pretty well, and then I let migration assistant take over. I wasn’t able to boot into Sequoia anymore. It would go into a loop where it claimed that migration assistant was done and needed to reboot.

So. I went back to installing it from scratch and it boots.

My question now is whether or not I can run migration assistant successfully or if I should just load apps one at a time that I’ll be using on the mini?

HELP MACOS GLITCH

Is it still worth it to buy an old MacBook (Air Early 2015), since Apple will drop Intel support?

Thinking of buying a used MacBook Air Early 2015 as a second laptop (that I can use on travels and I'm not afraid to get it stolen).

Specs:

MacBook Air A14 Early 2015 13" i7 8GB RAM 500 GB SSD Battery 100 Cycles Cost: 140€

Do you think it's a good deal? Was the cheapest I could find in my region.

How long would you think I would still be able to work on supported Apps with this device?

So love it or leave it

It’s taken a week but I finally got my 2010 Mac Pro all put together on Ventura. I had to replace two bad drives in the process. Circa 2010 so it’s time ;) and I learned that disk repair can repair a TM disk that’s corrupted. But I also learned that restoring a user account with migration from HFS to APFS does very bad things to the APFS so it won’t boot or recover. I had to blow it away and start over. The good news is I had a TM from the fresh Ventura install so it’s all good now. And I was able to get my data off the old TM back up. So now it’s all good. And I’m wondering if I should move up to the next gen OSX. There seems to be a mixed story about the 2010 Mac pros and anything newer than Ventura which is why I started here. Oh yeah. I’m upgrading the WiFi card Ina few days to a better supported card. If do upgrade, is there a FAQ on how? I just read that one can upgrade the boot code and then just upgrade like a normal Mac. True? Thanks

broke my mac, pls help

So, i was logged out of my 2012 macbook pro and forgot my password so decided to go into recovery mode to completely factory reset my macbook. Because i'm stupid, i deleted my start up disk to then reinstall macOS sierra like i was told, just for it to say i can't install macOS sierra. When i try the internet recovery, it loads for a sec then shows a triangle with an exclamation mark. I tried to manually change the date to 2017 in the recovery mode page and then try to reinstall it and it still didn't work. somone help, is my mac completely gone? i don't have the money to buy a new one rn :(

GPU feels laggy and camera did not working

Hi users! I have Macbook Pro late 2013 installed Sequoia 15.5. Everything runs well and smooth for a month. But last night the wallpaper broke suddenly, it cannot use live wallpaper and the wallpaper become white. Also the GPU feels laggy and I just check the camera also is not working. Any idea to solve these issues?

Sequoia Live Wallpaper Issue

Hi. I'm on a late 2013 27" iMac (3,5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4 GB) and I have rendering issues with the Sequoia live wallpaper. I can see it moving as it's supposed to, during the screensaver preview, but it's not rendering properly. I get that things might break with OCLP, and that the team is doing their best, but is there a way to fix? Is there a way to delete Sequoia Aerial and maybe try again or is it a rendering problem proper?

Lead developer of OCLP hired by Apple

How do I revert my volume/brightness indicators back after reinstalling the last supported OS?

How do I revert my volume/brightness indicators back after reinstalling the last supported OS?

Okay so I recently decided to reinstall the last supported OS (Catalina) following a failed installation of Sequoia onto my late 2013 iMac via OCLP, and lately I've noticed that both my volume and brightness indicators still stuck with how they'd look in Sequoia during the brief period i've had it.

So far this issue seems to only apply when I'm using dark mode. I know this probably might sound dumb, but is there a way that I can fix this and revert the indicators back to how they'd look on Catalina.

Just need a trusted older ipa

After exhausting all safe methods and visiting local recovery centers, my last resort is Sideloading and the last missing piece is a trusted older WhatsApp .ipa (from 2021-2024 range).

I got a full Apple/MAC setup ready to start.

Already tried to extract it myself but the tools I got don't let me extract it from the phone, it just extract it from the server.

If anyone here archives old iOS apps or can safely point me to a known-good source, l'd be grateful.

Just need the correct version to access my data which I have a month by now trying to get.

Thanks in advance.

Should i upgrade my RAM from 8GB to 16 or even 32 and use ssd instead hdd or buy a newer imac (currently have Late 2013, 27") to be able to run Sequoia comfortably

I want to upgrade my imac 14,2 to sequoia and probably even to MacOS 26 later but I don't like it being slow (not too slow to be unusable it's still better than my windows pc, but I want it to be instant-responsive, like not having to wait for 5-10 seconds before it wakes from sleep or launches an app after reboot)

MacBook Pro A1708 Stuck on Apple logo

MacBook Pro A1708 Stuck on Apple logo

Hello everyone, I have a very big problem on my MacBook and apparently it's probably linked to Open Core Legacy Patcher, I'll explain: my MacBook Pro A1708 has a small problem after I disassembled it last month, the problem is that when I close the lid and open it again the screen doesn't turn on, it's apparently a Lid Sensor problem. From then on, every time I close the screen and open it again to use it, I'm needed to do a forced shutdown with Option-Control-Shift-Power Button (you should know that my Mac is updated to MacOS Sonoma with OCLP). Then two days ago, when I did this combination for the n-th time, and tried to turn it back on, the MacBook got stuck at the Apple logo, which is rather disturbing. I've tried various combinations, such as putting the MacBook in recovery mode with or without Via Internet, or using a MacOS installation key with several versions, but each time I get the same result: either a black screen when I'm not in EFI mode, or a screen with the Apple logo blocked. I've even tried booting my Mac by removing the SSD, and every time I get the same result. Is my MacBook finally dead? Thanks for helps.

Made a hackintosh one last time before Intel is finally killed off. AMD-only build.

It was a good run and I enjoyed it, even if I spent many nights (on and off) troubleshooting my EFIs over the years. It started with an old OptiPlex 990 and an RX 570 on macOS Catalina, then a Surface Go 2 (with working pen support which was pretty cool), and now we're here.

Current System:

  • ASRock B550M Phantom Gaming 4
  • Ryzen 5 4500 (planning on upgrading to a 5700X3D soon)
  • Radeon RX 6700 XT
  • Realtek ALC887/897 Audio
  • Realtek 8111 Gigabit Ethernet
  • Intel AX 200 WiFi (itlwm + HeliPort)
  • Crucial MX500 500GB SATA SSD as macOS boot drive
  • WD_BLACK 1TB NVMe for Windows boot drive
  • Two WD HDDs in an NTFS RAID 0 volume, not readable by macOS unfortunately
  • Additional 2TB Seagate HDD formatted NTFS, read-only of course.

Had to add "-vsmcbeta" to my boot-args and set SecureBootModel to "Disabled" in order to boot. Using NootRX instead of WhateverGreen since Navi 22 isn't supported. Also manually made a custom USB map since the USBtoolbox mapping tool isn't supported on AMD if I remember correctly.

bini-lat

Its not my first attempt at hackintoshing but its been 3 years since I did this. I tried it on a laptop and faced TONS of issues. this one however I DID NOT have to face any issues whatsoever. just followed the dortania guide and BAM! I did ventura since its the latest supported for my SMBIOS.

My Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i3-7100
GPU: RX550 (Dell OEM - Polaris)
RAM: 8GB... will upgrade to 64GB
SSD: Samsung 850 PRO (SATA III) 128GB
WIFI&BT: Intel 7260AC
SOUNDS: REALTEK (ALC662)
MIC: i use airpods or continuity camera for meetings and classes

what is not working:
none... tested this for a week. facetime, imessage, and airdrop works out of the box

issues: apparently my monitor being 75hz causes a too light (high gamma as it seems) effect. 60hz is fine but black is not black (slightly greyish) i wanna fix this but idk i tried and i give up.

GPU doesnt need spoofing with SSDT, only tagging the pci id on config.plist

MBP 2015 13” glitched after restart

I’ve been using Sequoia on my 2015 13” MBP for a few weeks now without too many issues. Recently I turned it off for a few days and stuff was incorrect, so I redid the root patches and now it won’t start - which is an issue it’s had before whenever I was trying Sonoma.

Another oddity is when I try and boot into recovery, it shows a recovery environment from Yosemite or El Capitan - not Sequoia, the current installed version, nor Monterey, which it was upgraded from.

At this point I’ve been fighting for weeks now and I’m about to just downgrade it back to Monterey and use as is for as long as possible.

My 1 year anniversary of being on Reddit

Bought this beast for $125 - thoughts after upgrades?

Bought this beast for $125 - thoughts after upgrades?

I’ve installed the latest OS on an external SSD and have ordered 32GB of RAM.

The machine has no scratches, the display is in great condition, and running the OS from the external SSD has made it significantly faster.

After all upgrades, I’ll have 40GB total RAM, a 500GB external SSD, a 5K monitor, and the latest OS—total investment: $264.

Any suggestions for further upgrades or changes to maximize performance?

No AirPlay mirroring

Losing my mind here.

Had a 17,1 iMac running on Monterey nicely with OCLP, AirPlay mirroring working.

I upgraded to Sequoia and patched it up. Literally everything works apart from AirPlay mirroring!

I've repatched, reinstalled (always checking that Feature Unlock is enabled) and nothing works.

Everything else seems to be fine.

Any tips?

🆘 "Failed to mount root volume" error when applying root patches after latest OCLP update – MacBook overheating & battery drain

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here can help – I've been running into a frustrating issue since updating to the latest version of OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP). Since the update:

  • My MacBook (Model: MacBook Pro - Retina, 15", Mid 2014) is overheating
  • The battery is draining rapidly
  • I wanted to apply the new root patches, but the patching process fails with:

Failed to mount root volume
Error 75 – "mount_apfs: volume could not be mounted: Resource busy"

What I’ve tried:

  • Tried applying patches via OCLP GUI – failed.
  • Manually tried sudo diskutil mountDisk disk1s4 – says success, but nothing actually mounts in Disk Utility.
  • Verified patching capability – OCLP confirms it's possible.
  • Full log output below.

Full error log:

- Starting Patch Process - Determining Required Patch set for Darwin 24 Pulling metallib list from MetallibSupportPkg API No direct match found for 24C101, falling back to closest match Closest Match: 24C100 (15.2) metallib already installed (15.2-24C100), skipping - Verifying whether Root Patching possible - Patcher is capable of patching - Mounted Universal-Binaries.dmg Failed to mount root volume Subprocess failed. Command: ['/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.dortania.opencore-legacy-patcher.privileged-helper', '/sbin/mount', '-o', 'nobrowse', '-t', 'apfs', '/dev/disk1s4', '/System/Volumes/Update/mnt1'] Return Code: 75 Standard Output: mount_apfs: volume could not be mounted: Resource busy mount: /System/Volumes/Update/mnt1 failed with 75 Standard Error: None Failed to mount root volume - Failed to mount root volume, cannot continue with patching!!!

My questions:

  1. Has anyone else experienced this exact error when trying to patch the root volume?
  2. Could downgrading to OCLP 2.3.2 and reverting root patches work as a last resort?
  3. Any known workarounds to resolve this "resource busy" issue?

Thanks so much for reading – I’d really appreciate any advice 🙏🏼

Safari 18 and WebGL Issues?

Running Safari 18.5 (20621.2.5.11.8) - I'm assuming the latest version? - on my MacBook Pro 2015 15" with macOS 15.5 sequoia. I've realised webGL graphics acceleration isn't working, i.e. sluggish performance in google maps, no WebGL spinning cube on https://get.webgl.org

Is there a WebKit patch or similar I can install to enable WebGL? I'm assuming it's related to SIP being disabled due to OCLP. Any help / advice / fixes pls let me know. I'm sure I'm not the only person who this is affecting. I've tried terminal commands to re-enable WebGL already but no luck.

Obviously using Firefox, chrome etc is an option but I just prefer the lightweightness of Safari.

Hi! I am desperately looking for any help.. since my Macbook is quite overheating and has battery draining issues since the last OCLP Update.
I tried to install the new Root patches after the update but got the following output:

- Starting Patch Process

- Determining Required Patch set for Darwin 24

Pulling metallib list from MetallibSupportPkg API

No direct match found for 24C101, falling back to closest match

Closest Match: 24C100 (15.2)

- Verifying whether Root Patching possible

- Patcher is capable of patching

- Mounted Universal-Binaries.dmg

Failed to mount root volume

Subprocess failed.

Command: ['/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.dortania.opencore-legacy-patcher.privileged-helper', '/sbin/mount', '-o', 'nobrowse', '-t', 'apfs', '/dev/disk1s4', '/System/Volumes/Update/mnt1']

Return Code: 75

Standard Output:

mount_apfs: volume could not be mounted: Resource busy

mount: /System/Volumes/Update/mnt1 failed with 75

Standard Error:

None

Failed to mount root volume

- Failed to mount root volume, cannot continue with patching!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------

I already tried to manually mount the root volume by doing "sudo diskutil mountdisk disk1s4" but that only gave me "Volume(s) mounted successfully" without it actually being mounted when I go have a look in the Disk Utility....

Did anyone maybe have a similar problem and knows what could fix it? Any help is much appreciated! 🙏🏼

I have also tried with Monterey

Ivy Bridge + Pascal macOS Sequoia help

First time setting up a Hackintosh, I got to this part of the Dortania wiki, and now I'm confused. Do I set up the 1050 Ti, the Integrated Intel Graphics, or both?

Is it possible to do OpenCore and Bootcamp at the same time?

2013 iMac user here. I've been contemplating for a while to get my computer to run OpenCore (hopefully Sequoia or Tahoe if avialable) along with installing Windows 10 (though hopefully 11 too) via Boot Camp to be able to play games on my computer again.

Is there anything I need to know about running either of those? Are there any technical requirements I need to keep in mind? Is there a potential process for what i should do/install first?

Also, is there any recommendations I should keep in mind for installing either?

Facing issue with location services

Hey users! So, I just upgraded from Ventura to Sonoma using OCLP on my mac pro mid 2012. The Ventura was working stunningly however lately, I was facing an issue of not being to use my location services on any application (like Maps and Weather), so I tried some tutorials and etc but no result. Then I upgraded to Sonoma and still the issue persists. I have exhausted all the "general" troubleshooting and no positive result. There is no information about location issue on OCLP website as well. Any help would be appreciated (like infinity).

Messages booting me out a few seconds after log in. Seriously?

Ahh so I am on an AMD CPU and GPU, and everything was flawless until I tried iMessage. I log in, booted after 10 seconds. I tried genSMBios so many times but it never fixes it. I saw another post stating that I should run this terminal command (not home so I can’t check) and it did indeed say my message isn’t activated on the Mac or something like that. Gave a support code, but I have no clue how I can contact them or even if I should. Does anyone know how to fix this? Sorry if this is repetitive and I’m looking forward to any fixes!

Success on my main PC

Success on my main PC

i5-8400, UHD 630 (1660 SUPER, disabled,) 16GB DDR4-3200 (running at 2666 because of my CPU,) B360M-C/CSM

I had issues with the iGPU showing no signal after the verbose, but I followed the intel gpu patching guide on the opencore website and it worked.
