I've been running a fairly stable build on High Sierra 10.13.6 with my GTX 1070 Ti and I've always felt stuck on HS since GPU prices have been so high the last few years. But now I am considering buying a used 8GB RX 580 and was wondering what the best approach for a potential upgrade would be.
Can I/Should I have both GPUs installed and then attempt to proceed with upgrading directly from the app store? Do I need to start from scratch? What OS version can I safely upgrade to? If the upgrade is successful, I would probably sell the 1070 since it would be of no use to me at that point.
