First time building a PC — Going Hackintosh. Wish me luck, & rate my parts list!

The parts list was finalized today (the resources in this sub were a huge help), the items were all purchased moments ago. I’m techy, but I’ve never built a computer before. I’m a tiny bit nervous and a lot bit FUCKING PUMPED. So... anything I‘ll soon be bitterly regretting with this lineup of parts?

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-9900k
  • Mobo: Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming (micro-ATX)
  • GPU: XFX Radeon RX 570 RS XXX Edition 8GB
  • RAM: 2x 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3600
  • Boot drive/photo editing drive: 1TB Crucial MX500 M.2-2280 SSD
  • Extra storage: 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute 7200rpm
  • Cooling: Noctua NH-U12S 55 CFM CPU Cooler
  • Networking: fenvi FV-T919 PCIE adapter with BCM94360CD WiFi & Bluetooth chipset
  • PSU: Thermaltake Smart 600W 80+ certified
  • Case: Fractal Design Define Mini C MicroATX Mid tower (coming from a coworker in exchange for some beers).

Woo! Can’t wait. I’m planning to run Catalina; I’m a photographer, so my major need from it is nice snappy performance in PS and Lightroom Classic (which is why I didn’t go Ryzen — worried about flakiness in Adobe suite).

I edit still photos; 46MP RAW files that will run into the several gigabytes size in PS when being edited. No video editing, no gaming for me though. I’ll add a second M.2 SSD as a windows 10 boot drive very soon, and potentially an internal RAID setup over time.

I had a new 16” MBP (i9, 32GB, 2TB) configured on the Apple store with my finger hovering over “complete purchase” a couple of weeks back, when I stopped myself. I just spent about a third of what that would have been. I’ve always happily paid the Apple tax, but man... it’s shocking.
