Lenovo ThinkPad E480 does not sleep properly

When I put my E480 to sleep, it turns off for a few seconds (USB loses power, fan stops spinning, and the power button LED turns off), then it wakes up again automatically but not entirely. The display stays off. Just the power LED is back on, USB is powered, and the fan starts spinning. I can wake it up normally, but it isn't sleeping properly. Does anyone have an idea how I could fix this?

I tried setting the hibernatemode to different values through terminal, without luck (enabling hibernation just causes some CMOS errors).

system.log does not show any wake reason, so that's a dead end as well.
