Better backup method

Basically took a 4TB external HDD and partitioned half as APFS for Time Machine backups and the other half as NTFS for Winsdows System Images.

Time Machine doesn't seem to format the whole drive when you do a restore, which is desirable.

Restoring a System Image on Windows does, however. Wipes the whole drive which obviously gets rid of macOS. Not desirable.

So: - Is there a better backup/restore method in Windows where a restore doesn't format the whole drive? - If not, a better third party utility that can backup everything but restore each OS individually (macOS, Windows, Linux)?

I tried Clonezilla for a short time, but found it unintuitive for backups/restores. But like everything else, there is guide for it. Probably should revisit using it or something "better".
