Hey guys! Since last night I recently ordered the DW1560 WiFi/BT card from the Dell Chat last night for my Inspiron 5559, I just wanna share to you guys a few things.
You may have noticed that prices for Dell WiFi/BT cards (incl. DW1560) are kinda expensive, and you would wait 1,000 years for it to ship from China. Maybe sometimes they work, sometimes they don't at all. What I love is, you could still buy the card from Dell. And best of all, it's at a cheap and affordable price (for me it was $20.99 CAD, without shipping/handling.)
So as I wait for the order to be confirmed and have it shipped to my mouth, here's a little guide on how to get a CHEAP Dell DW1560 (or any other card), and I recommend you try this first before going to the expensive, Chinese time-wasting option!
But, you can't just buy the part from Dell.com. It's a easter egg somewhere, so you'll have to get it via Dell Chat. This might work in the United States and other countries where Dell Support is available.
-
Go to Dell Chat (Canadian users go here: https://www.dell.com/learn/ca/en/cacorp1/campaigns/chat-splitter-ca-corp) and just go to "Click to Chat" on Home Users.
-
Select "Purchase Parts & Warranty Extensions", input your name and e-mail, and if you want you can have your chat transcript saved at the end.
-
Say hello to your little stranger, and request them the part number: 6XRYC (for DW1560). Now you will mostly be asked to input your shipping information on the chat, don't be nervous! Just follow what they say.
-
Follow the instructions guided by your agent.
-
After paying for the item, you'll receive your receipt in your Inbox.
Now, here's a quick-and-painless install guide for the DW1560 (will try once it arrives), so you don't need to vomit in L/E, S/L/E, S/L/Tizi whatever...
Kexts: AirportBrcmFixup.kext, BrcmFirmwareData.kext, and BrcmPatchRAM2.kext
FixAirport in DSDT (you can turn it on in Clover Configurator)
Those 3 kexts should go to CLOVER/Kexts/Other folder. I'll tell you my experience once the card comes. Have a wonderful day y'all! And stay safe.
