High Sierra install freezing at 12 minutes remaining

ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E GAMING (BIOS Version 0905) Intel Core i7-8700K Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz (PC4-28800) C18 Kit Samsung 970 EVO Plus Series - 1TB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V7S1T0B/AM) ASUS ROG Strix 1080Ti 

I followed the vanilla guide.

​Clover boots fine, install starts, gets to 2 minutes remaining, then restarts. Then I boot from the NVMe drive, and installation starts again with 17 minutes remaining. It gets to 12 minutes remaining then freezes. Rebooting doesn't help.
