Build : i9 9900K, Gigabyte - Z390 Aorus Pro Wifi, Samsung 970 Pro 512GB M.2, AMD RX580 8GB

I'm currently on High Sierra, 10.13.6. Things seem to be working so far, for the most part.

Details:

  • I used /u/corpnewt's new guide, pretty well verbatim. Thanks for the guide; the example config.plist file is very useful!
  • I used the iMac18,3 SMBIOS info.
  • I enabled all options under FileVault2 in Clover. Disk encryption works on startup, entering the password with a wireless USB keyboard.
  • I left VT-d enabled in the BIOS. I want to be able to use VirtualBox with 64-bit guests, and I use Docker a lot. Otherwise, I configured the BIOS settings according to the guide.
  • If anyone's interested, I'll upload my EFI directory somewhere. I'm not sure where would be best to upload it, though.

Caveats:

  • The motherboard's built-in wireless does not work. It's not Broadcom, so I didn't expect it to work. I use ethernet, so I don't care about the wifi so much. It would be really nice to get the bluetooth working to get a better signal than the USB bluetooth adaptor I'm using. I'd like more range for my bluetooth headphones.
  • The CPU is not listed correctly under About This Mac. It's listed as "3.6 GHz Unknown". Maybe upgrading to Mojave would fix this. HWMonitor reports that the CPU is idling at about 30C, and the stats seem to be correct under System Report. Maybe it's working OK and the issue is just aesthetic.
  • The iMac18,3 SMBIOS info doesn't seem ideal for the CPU. The iMac19,1 can take an i9 9900K as an upgrade option, so it would seem to be a better relative fit. I suppose that SMBIOS info would only be compatible with Mojave, and I'm not sure whether Clover supports iMac19,1.
  • Running neofetch, my old Nvidia GTX 1070 is listed even though only my AMD RX 580 is plugged in. I removed the Nvidia drivers, so I'm not sure why neofetch gives this result. It's like neofetch is taunting me that I downgraded a bit to the RX 580. Not having to worry about web drivers and being able to upgrade to Mojave is worth it, though.
  • I'm not sure whether it's recommended to use ssdt.aml anymore, given updates to Clover.
