where and when to run lilu and friends?

i'm trying to do a vanilla install according to this guide https://hackintosh.gitbook.io/-r-hackintosh-vanilla-desktop-guide/.

i'd like to generate my own kexts using lilu and friends written by /u/corpnewt.

i've downloaded the script but where do i run this? do i run it on the new hackintosh after making the base install? but will it even boot without the kexts? or do i run it on my macbook where i generated the install USB?
