I am new to building computers and have only ever had laptops that lacked power. I've always wanted to PC game and I have the money to build a computer with an 1800$ or so budget. My wife likes mac, so I'm attempting that as well but have the fall back of knowing I can just run windows and say sorry if it becomes an issue. Being new to this I've spent some time trying to put together parts lists based on research others lists and reddit posts. However, it's all a bit daunting and being so new, aside from pairing parts from Patrick JMT's lists, I expect I have some parts that don't make much sense together.
Primarily I want something that is going to last me a while and can handle most anything I throw at it. Thanks for any responses.
