Is there a way to re-enable Atheros WiFi on Mojave without modifying /System/Library/Extensions or /Library/Extensions?

I'm looking into setting up an install USB for Mojave, and in my research found that Atheros WiFi support was removed in Mojave. My WiFi card is based on the AR93XX chipset, so this would mean I'd be without WiFi support, which I really would like to have. However, all of the guides I've seen to re-enable it (by bringing over AirPortAtheros40.kext from High Sierra) require modifying the kext in /System/Library/Extensions or /Library/Extensions. I prefer to keep all of my additional kexts in Clover, but there doesn't seem to be a way to use it to inject the needed WiFi support.

Is there a way to do it through Clover, or should I just go ahead and modify /S/L/E if I want WiFi (or even just install High Sierra)?
