Can someone explain to me why Mac OS X wouldn’t work on an intel pc dedicated to Mac software?

So I just updated my 2009 MacBook Pro to a much larger internal ssd which allowed me to run El Capitan, however I painfully discovered that I couldn’t use features like airdrop to go between my MBP and iPad/iPhone because of the nature of the WiFi used in each.

I started to wonder why I couldn’t use the same ssd update method with a intel pc laptop. If I have no desire to have a machine that boots both windows and Mac, but one dedicated to Mac only, why it is that one can’t just get a clean ssd, install Mac OS on it, then switch it out with the HDD in the pc laptop?

I realize this is a naïve question for the majority of you out there, but I am genuinely curious. Will Mac OS and it’s features only work with certain proprietary chips in an apple product?

Hoping someone can kindly answer this newbie question.
